The Creative Video Award is granted to the most entertaining or educational video created by an SJSU athletics team, with complete creative freedom to produce spoofs, parodies, or original concepts. The winning team earns $5,000 for their sports program. As a member of the San Jose State cheerleading team and with a strong background in videography, I had the incredible honor of winning this award in both 2023 and 2024. For each project, I took the lead in crafting the concept and script, then directed, shot, and edited the videos using Adobe Premiere Pro. This experience allowed me to blend my passion for storytelling with technical skills, while collaborating with my teammates to bring a shared vision to life. From idea to final cut, these projects taught me the power of teamwork and creativity in achieving a successful and impactful result.

SJSU SPIRIT: SCREAM
In 2023, we created a horror movie parody that featured a surprising plot twist involving San Jose State’s beloved mascot, Sammy Spartan. I filmed the project using a Sony a7II and brought it to life in post-production with Adobe Premiere Pro. This video marked a historic moment as it became the first time SJSU Cheer brought home the Creative Video Award along with the $5,000 program funding.
To top it off, the video gained wider recognition when it was shared on NBC Sports Bay Area, showcasing our creativity to an even larger audience.

2024
In 2024, we took a creative turn by producing a parody of The Bachelor, starring San Jose State’s iconic mascot, Sammy Spartan, as the bachelor himself. I filmed the project using a Sony a7III and brought the story to life through editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. This fun and engaging video marked the second consecutive year SJSU Cheer earned the Creative Video Award, securing another $5,000 in program funding and reinforcing our reputation for innovation and storytelling.
